Big DIY 3D Printer MKII
These are the final version files for the big printer, there are no plans, profile dimensions or anything. I just built it as I was designing parts. The bed carriage V-Wheel system used on the printer is at it’s limits and I cannot recommend you use it as it is, I’d go for a 90 degree mount so the wheels rest on the profile instead of grabbing sideways onto it. That’d require to add an extra profile on each side. I won’t show how to wire an AC heated bed, if you don’t feel confident doing it, you shouldn’t be learning how to do it from me. When I started making the printer I wasn’t even planning on releasing anything, take these files as just a helper to build your own, not an all in one solution. Use these files at your own risk. You can modify and redistribute these files at will, I’d ask to not to do it commercially but I won’t be pursuing anyone.
The bearings I used are 16-5-5 bearings. The belts are attached with zip-ties, then tensioned fastening either the motor bracket or the bearing bracket.
The spring is 10mm OD and 5 or large ID. I’d choose one with a large compression strength as the bed ends up being pretty hefty.
In the last iteration I changed the bed cable chain to the other side, this way it can be used as the endstop stop. Choose the right one depending on the configuration.
I’ll leave this one here, it is useless now though.
This file has the entire carriage and the wire to the carriage system. The two lines that bear the weight of the cables and PTFE tube to the carriage are FISH TAPE lines, the ones used to pas wires through walls. The carriage has been tuned to not required an eccentric nut and fits perfectly my 2020 extrusion and v-wheels, you may need to modify the distances of the wheel holes so it fits tightly on yours.
There’s a lot going on on this one, everything should be self explanatory though.
